Successful Mediation of IP Dispute by Lee & Lee’s Mr. Zech Chan
Our Mr. Zech Chan (Partner, Intellectual Property) was recently invited by the World Intellectual Property Organization mediation center to mediate a trade marks dispute before the Singapore Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS“).
The mediation was successful and the parties were able to amicably settle their case within one day. As mediator, Mr. Zech Chan played a significant role in reaching this favourable outcome. For instance, it was observed that he was able to break an impasse at the late stages of the mediation through his suggestions, bringing parties to a mutually acceptable resolution.

If you are considering mediation for your IP dispute, do note that IPOS is currently having a funding scheme where parties can receive reimbursement of mediation costs, up to S$10,000 (where only Singapore IP rights are involved) or S$14,000 (where both Singapore and foreign IP rights are involved).
