CHEN Yan

Chen Yan is a Foreign Legal Counsel with our China desk.

She graduated from Fu Dan University in China in 1984. She has been working in Singapore as a Foreign Legal Counsel in Chinese Law since 1993, having spent her time before that working for the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Shanghai Commission and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shanghai Sub-Council for 6 years. She was also a practicing lawyer in the Shanghai International Economic & Trade Law Office in Shanghai, and was called to the Chinese Bar in 1990.

Chen Yan has a broad range of legal practice experience in China related business including foreign direct investment (joint venture, wholly foreign-owned enterprise etc.), M&A, BOT, property development, banking, arbitration and litigation. The industries she has been involved in include manufacturing, banking, hotel management, financial services, property development, petroleum oil and gas exploration and service, telecoms, toll roads, power plants, biomedical, and water process.

Chen Yan joined the Corporate Department of Lee & Lee in 1999. Her work includes advising numerous clients on their direct investment in China, corporate restructuring, Pre-IPO arrangement, M&A transaction, legal due diligence, banking transaction, and disputes settlement in Chinese courts.

Chen Yan can write and speak in both English and Chinese.
