Wendy is a Counsel in the Corporate Department.
She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1990, and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1991. Originating from Malacca, she came to RGS, Singapore as an Asean Scholar and has lived in Singapore since, much later becoming a Singaporean. Wendy is proficient in Bahasa Malaysia in addition to being a native speaker and writer of the English language.
Following her call, Wendy has worked her way to partnership in private practice, acted as regional and chief counsel, and sat on management teams and boards in MNCs and local conglomerates. She has been both internal and external business partner during her professional legal career, spending about an equal time in law firms and in corporations.
Wendy’s practice depth is in the areas of corporate, corporate commercial and corporate real estate, with complementary exposure in the areas of privacy, non-competition, employment and technology. Her transaction experience includes M&A, private equity, funds, business trusts, funding and financing, restructuring and integrations, spin-offs and buy-outs, public-private partnerships, infrastructure and utilities, downstream and mid-stream oil & gas, corporate real estate, hospitality, outsourcing and procurement, and online and offline sales channels.
She has in recent times invested her energies in a number of courses with premium universities, undertaking the Oxford Strategic Innovation Programme, MIT’s Blockchain Technologies: Business Innovation & Application, and then St Gallen’s Renewable Energy Management over 2021. Wendy has a special interest in the area of Renewables, having studied and read widely on its technologies, business models, policies and resulting revolution to supply chains, investment, finance, regulations and the circular economy. She sees forming valuable legal-commercial partnerships with public and private actors in the Renewables space, as a key component to accelerating knowledge, adoption and investment in Sustainability in Singapore.
