Education & Qualifications

Maurice graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of London in 1995. He then completed the England Bar Final Examinations with Merit and gained admission as a Barrister-at-Law of England and Wales (Middle Temple) in 1996.

In 1998, he was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, marking the beginning of his distinguished legal career.

Furthering his legal expertise, Maurice earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the National University of Singapore in 2003, achieving distinctions in Medical & Biomedical Law and Ethics as well as Marine Insurance Law.

Some of his recent notable cases in the High Court include:

  • Currently representing a statutory board in High Court Originating Claim No. 859 of 2023 concerning a breach of a grant agreement, with a claim amounting to $6 million.

  • Successfully represented a statutory board in High Court Suit No. 718 of 2021 to recover a grant clawback of $700,000 and defended against a wrongful termination claim totaling $1.4 million.

  • Successfully represented a statutory board in High Court Originating Claim No. 21 of 2024.

  • Defended a registered medical practitioner in High Court Suit No. 151 of 2018 against a medical negligence claim brought by the husband of a deceased patient.

  • Represented a major toy manufacturer in a copyright claim against a seller of counterfeit products in High Court Suit No. 193 of 2018.

  • Defended a registered medical practitioner against a claim for medical negligence from the estate of a deceased patient in High Court Suit No. 250 of 2015.

  • Successfully represented a client in resisting his former spouse’s multi-million-dollar claim for the division of his company’s assets in Divorce Suit 2266 of 2011.

  • Represented a defendant in a trademark infringement and passing off case in High Court Suit No. 34 of 2013.

  • Represented a registered patent proprietor in a patent infringement claim against a defendant in High Court Suit No. 470 of 2012.

  • Successfully represented a copyright owner in a claim for copyright infringement and breach of confidential information in High Court Suit No. 450 of 2011.
