CHEN Rebecca

Rebecca Chen is a Partner in the Banking and Finance Department.

She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws in 2012 and was called to the Singapore bar in 2013.

Her area of practice includes advising banks and borrowers in relation to syndicated and bilateral loans, REIT financing, general banking facilities and acquisition and asset financing.

Work highlights include:

  • Acted for a company listed on the Singapore stock exchange in a financing of up to S$132,000,000 for its acquisition of the shares of a company which owned units in a mixed development in one of Singapore’s prominent shopping and tourist districts.
  • Acted for a local bank in a refinancing of up to S$402,000,000 relating to an integrated development comprising 2 hotels, an office block, a shopping mall and a public park.
  • Acted for 2 associate companies of a property developer listed on the Singapore stock exchange in a financing of up to S$1,282,998,220 for the acquisition of land from the Singapore government and the construction of a mixed development (comprising office, retail and residential components) in Singapore’s business district.
  • Acted for 2 joint venture companies between a foreign property developer and a local property developer in a financing of up to S$1,010,000,000 for the acquisition of land from the Singapore government and the construction of a mixed development comprising both residential and retail units.
  • Acted for a local bank, the local branches of 3 foreign banks and a finance company in a financing of up to S$454,596,700 relating to the acquisition of land from the Singapore government and the construction of a mixed development comprising both residential and retail units in a prime area close to Singapore’s business district.
  • Acted for 2 local banks and the local branch of a foreign bank in a financing of up to S$663,660,000 of the acquisition of land from the Singapore government and the development of a condominium.
  • Acted for 3 local banks and the local branch of a foreign bank in a financing of up to S$231,010,000 for both the en-bloc acquisition of a mixed development comprising residential and retail units and the development of a condominium.
  • Acted for a wholly owned subsidiary of a property developer listed on the Singapore stock exchange in a financing of up to S$140,620,000 and a separate financing of up to S$176,620,000, both for the purpose of an en-bloc acquisition of a single estate in Singapore and each respectively for financing the lease top up premia and the development costs relating to separate residential developments.
  • Acted for a joint venture company involving four listed companies in a financing granted by a syndicate of banks of up to S$744,600,000 for the purpose of an en-bloc acquisition in Singapore, as well as the financing of the development charge and the development costs relating to the new project.
